Community Stewardship Standards

Every facility that joins the Mvuvi BlueConnect network commits to these six standards. They are what a fisher or buyer is relying on when they see a facility listed here.

  1. 01Commitment to Local Fisher Success

A hub exists to serve the community that lands the fish. Capacity is allocated so that small-scale fishers are not crowded out by larger consignments.

  2. 02Operational Temperature Care

Facilities hold their stated temperature range and record it. A cold chain that is claimed but not measured is not a cold chain.

  3. 03Sustainable Power Solutions

Solar first. Grid and generator power are accepted where solar is not yet viable, but backup power is expected so a cut does not become a loss.

  4. 04Open Communication with the Network

Available capacity, pricing and operating hours are published honestly and kept current, so a fisher travelling to a hub finds what was advertised.

  5. 05Hygiene & Sanitation Excellence

Handling surfaces, drainage and storage practice meet food-grade expectations. This is what makes traceability worth anything to a buyer.

  6. 06Fair Pricing for All Community Members

One published rate per kilogram per day. No preferential pricing that disadvantages the fishers the hub was built to serve.

How standards are applied

Before a hub goes live, our local team visits to work through these standards with the operator. Compliance details for each facility — licensing, safety certification, insurance and fire safety — are published on its facility page so buyers can see them before booking.
