- What is Mvuvi BlueConnect?
- Mvuvi BlueConnect is a Kenyan cold chain and fish marketplace company. We run a directory of certified cold storage facilities that fishers and traders can search and book, and a marketplace where buyers can find fish by species and see which facilities hold it.
- Do I need an account to book cold storage?
- No. You can book as a guest without creating an account. Creating an account lets you track bookings, manage batches and see your payment history in one place.
- How is cold storage priced?
- Facilities publish a rate per kilogram per day, shown on each facility page. You pay for what you actually store — there is no minimum consignment and no hidden fee on top of the published rate.
- Which fish species can I buy?
- Tilapia, Nile perch, catfish and omena are the species most commonly held in the network. Each species page shows live stock levels aggregated across the facilities currently holding it.
- Where do you operate?
- Our focus is the Lake Victoria basin — Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori and Busia. We also work with facilities elsewhere in Kenya where the same route-to-market problem exists.
- How do I know a facility is legitimate?
- Every facility page publishes its licensing, safety certification, insurance and fire safety status, along with its capacity, temperature range, power source and operating hours. Facilities also commit to our Community Stewardship Standards before going live.
- How does traceability work?
- Batches carry a scannable record covering where the fish landed, which facility held it and under what conditions. Buyers can verify that record rather than take it on trust.
- I own a cold storage facility. How do I join?
- Start through the partner programme. We begin with a conversation about your landing site, help you list your cooling assets, visit to work through the stewardship standards with you, then take your facility live in the public directory where it can accept bookings.
- Do you buy fish directly?
- No. We connect fishers and facility operators to buyers. Transactions happen between the parties, with the platform providing the cold storage, the listing and the traceability record.
- How do I get current prices for a specific stock?
- Contact us on WhatsApp from the relevant species page with the quantity you need. Pricing depends on species, grade, volume and the facility holding the stock, so we quote against the specific consignment rather than publishing a blanket rate.
